MADRID, April 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, ratified this Wednesday the bill that includes a multi-billion dollar military aid package valued at 96.000 billion dollars that will largely go to Ukraine, but also to Israel and Taiwan, thus ending months of negotiations in Congress.

“This is a good day for the United States, this is a good day for world peace,” proclaimed the White House chief after signing a bill with which Ukraine will receive around 60,000 million dollars to meet its constant demands for weaponry.

“If our allies become more secure and stronger, we will also be stronger,” said Biden, who assured that this package will also help strengthen the US economy, as the demands will go to its military and armament industry.

The package also includes an injection of 25.600 billion dollars to Israel at a time when the international community calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and amidst the possibility of a large-scale operation on the city of Rafah, in the south of a Palestinian enclave already devastated by bombings.

Another 8,000 million dollars will go to Taiwan, embroiled in a historic territorial dispute with China, as well as a bill that allows the ban of TikTok in the United States if its Chinese parent company ByteDance does not disassociate from it, and another bill that authorizes the Government to seize frozen Russian assets in the country worth around 6,400 million dollars.

Biden signed after the United States Senate approved this aid package last night with 79 votes in favor (48 Democrats and 31 Republicans) and 18 against (15 Republicans and three Democrats).

The Senate’s decision culminates months of tense negotiations among Republican ranks, to the extent that the leadership position of House President Mike Johnson is still at stake, in favor of continuing to finance Ukraine unlike the hardline of the party, who believe the war with Russia is lost.
